Cricket Panchkula, July 22 Alpine won the toss and elected to field first. This decision proved fruitful as the squad of Little Flower could muster only 104 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The Little Flower batsmen could not face the bowling of Alpine’s wreckers, Manjit Singh and Navdeep Singh, who claimed three wickets each. Prabhjot Singh was another bowler who also proved to be a tough nut to crack. He took two wickets at the cost of 33 runs. On the other hand, the Alpine team met the target in just 10.3 overs. Surav’s unbeaten half century (51) and Nikhil Wadhwan’s 40 runs led the team to victory. With this win, the Alpine School team has qualified for the semifinals. In the second league match of the day, Delhi Public School, Pinjore, beat Hansraj Public School, Sector 6, Panchkula, by 49 runs. The match was reduced to 16 overs due to bad weather conditions as the rain played spoilsport. The Delhi team won the toss and chose to bat first. They scored 134 runs at the loss of seven wickets in 16 overs. Sanchit, Prasav and Kehar contributed 40, 25 and 22 runs, respectively. The precise bowling spell of the Hansraj duo, Saurav (3 for 15) and Yash Kapila (3 for 27) proved to be futile as in reply, the whole Hansraj squad was bundled out for just 85 runs. Cricket Tourney Chandigarh, July 22 The hosts won the match by a whopping 10 wickets. The Shri-Shri academy batsman put on a meagre 61 runs in 19.5 overs. Parvesh dismissed three wickets for 10 runs while Arpit gave 14 runs while sending three batsmen back to the pavilion. Pulkit took 3 for 21. For Shri-Shri, only two batsmen - Harshit Manchanda (16) and Gurdeep Singh (19) - could reach the double figure. Chasing the target of 62, CCA’s openers Arjit Singh and Parvesh Sharma completed the task in just 10.4 overs. Arjit chipped in 38 runs whereas Parvesh scored 12 runs. In the second match of the day, Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, defeated Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, by 48 runs. Batting first, Cricket Stadium-16 made 133 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nipun Bhargov (42) was the highest scorer for the team. Mind game: Players put through their paces Mohali, July 22 This is exactly what Punjab Ranji cricketers feel as they attend a special camp being held at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium, here. In the 10-day camp, which focusses more on training of the mind than physical fitness, the Punjab Ranji probables have been learning new lessons on mind control. Meditation, pranayam (deep breathing) and lectures on positive energy are part of the curriculum. The players were all praise for this new concept of training. “It is essential that a player remain cool and positive in all circumstances.
