New Delhi, July 26
The Manipur Government, in its effort to check bird flu, today began culling of around 1.5 lakh chickens.

Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh held a meeting with concerned officials after avian influenza was confirmed in the state yesterday to determine the strategy to control and contain the dreaded disease.

The state government has set up Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) and 20 RRTs have been put into operation for culling of the birds.

The birds will be killed in a radius of 0 to 5 Km as per the initial details provided by the state government. About 128 small units of poultry are likely to be covered in the operations. — UNI
