BJP expels 3 rebels
Ludhiana, August 3
Bharatiya Janata Party today expelled three party men who had refused to withdraw their nomination papers in support of the SAD-BJP alliance candidates. Those expelled include Parshotam Mittal from Ward 14, Bharat Bhushan Sharma from Ward 34 and Rakesh Vohra from Ward 21. They have been expelled from the primary membership of the party for six years.

Close shave for 60 in pileup
Ludhiana, August 3
Around 60 persons travelling in four vehicles, including three cars and a bus, had a providential escape when their vehicles were involved in a pileup, after a truck they were tailing came to a grinding halt on the national highway, near Dhandari, this afternoon.
