of the premier B-School Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi, recently conducted its graduation function for the MBA (part time) course. Nowadays, the MBA part-time course is quite popular among aspirants of Management Education as it helps working executives and professionals to develop strong conceptual fundamentals and skills required for leadership role. At the function, 80 successful students of MBA (PT) and MBA (Health Care Administration) were awarded with the graduation certificates. The graduating students were from diverse fields, including 12 students from the defence services, over 15 from PSUs and government organisations, 20 from the banking and finance sector and the rest from the private / corporate establishments. Conference on agri-business An International Conference on “Agribusines and Food Industry in Developing Countries: Opportunities and Challenges” is being organised by the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, from August 10 to 12. It aims to explore various opportunities for agribusiness and food industry in developing countries in integrated and globalised economic environment, and identify challenges likely to be faced. The conference will be attended by industry leaders, academicians, researchers and policy makers from across the globe. Since a large portion of the population in developing countries depends on agriculture for their livelihood, IIM-L has made an effort to organise this conference so that industry leaders across the globe can come together and find a solution to the challenges faced by agribusiness and food industry and also explore the possible opportunities. Participants will focus on research work and studies that have been undertaken on:
Agribusiness Management Education Innovative Agribusiness Models Agri-food Supply Chain Management Healthy Food and Food Quality Management Institutional Arrangements for Farmer-Market Linkages Agri-input Businesses Agriculture Services: Finance, Insurance and Extension Commodity Trading Around 60 research papers/case studies, submitted from various parts of the globe, will be presented during three days of the conference. In addition, there will be a poster presentation session. Course to train bankers The Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance (IFBI), an NIIT initiative, has extended to markets beyond the metros, to foster skilled manpower for the financial services sectors. The institute has set up new centres in Ahmedabad and Pune and added two more in Delhi NCR, taking the total tally to 10 education centres across the country, in the first year of operations. IFBI has also extended its portfolio by partnering with three leading banks, in addition to the ICICI Bank, in the country. Through these partnerships, IFBI conducted training programs for new and existing employees of the banks on the basics of banking and core banking software solution.
