Facile win for DPA Academy

Chandigarh, August 9
A fine unbeaten knock of 48 by Mohin Vashisht went in vain as his team Shri Shri Cricket Academy, Panchkula, lost to the hosts DPA Academy by seven wickets in the Chandigarh Inter-Academy Invitational Cricket Tournament for U-11 at St Stephen's School, Sector 45, here today.

Batting first, Shri Shri Academy could score only 97 for seven in allotted 25 overs. After losing the first wicket at seven, Mohit and Gurdeep accumulated 27 runs for the second wicket, but it was Mohit Vashisht, who provided some respite to the team with his defiant unbeaten 48-run knock. During his innings, he hit eight boundaries.

For DPA Academy, Hardip Bhanot took two wickets for 10 runs followed by Amrit, who claimed one conceding nine runs. It was not difficult for DPA Academy’s batsmen to chase the meagre target of 98. The team achieved the victory in just 13 overs, losing three wickets in the course.

Starting on a poor note, DPA Academy, too, lost its openers Girik Walia and Parnav Vashisht at just nine runs. But the partnership of 36 runs between Jatinder Sharma (15) and Amrit Sharma (24 not out) bolstered the innings.

Later, Akash Sharma (28 not out) joined Amrit to shatter the dreams of Shri Shri Academy with their unbeaten 49-run stand. Navdeep and Mohit Gupta snapped one wicket each for 10 and 21 runs, respectively. With this third defeat, Shri Shri Academy ended it’s stake in the tournament.

Brief scores

Shri Shri Academy: 97 for 7 in 25 overs (Mohin Vashisht 48 n o, Gurdeep 19, Hardik Bhanot 2 for 10, Amit 1 for 9).

DPA Academy: 98 for 3 in 13.4 overs (Jatinder Sharma 15, Amrit Singh 24 n o, Akash Sharma 28 n o, Mohit Gupta 1 for 21, Navdeep 1 for 10). TNS
