Ayurvedic docs work under unfit conditions
Chandigarh, August 15 Though Dr N.S. Bhardwaj at the Sector 22 dispensary has been allotted a room, it is also been used to dump spare furniture. Worse, the room offers no privacy for the patients to discuss their medical problems. The room also does not allow any space for the patients’ medical examination. It should be mentioned that the dispensary has been set up at the Block Hospital of Sector 22, which was upgraded from the Poly Clinic some time back. Though the doctors attached with the hospital have been provided with independent rooms, the ayurvedic doctor, who has been allotted room no. 42, shares his with a pharmacist. Interestingly, the room was allotted to the ayurvedic doctor just a few weeks ago as earlier the dispensary was being run from a smaller room near the TB Section of the hospital. With spare furniture and a pharmacist already in the room, the doctor has to attend to more than 40 patients who visit every day. And with no room for a patient-doctor conversation, the doctor has no choice but to rely on the details given by the patient. |
