Ludhiana, August 16 Ryan International School: Working by the theme of environment conservation and reservation, the students of Ryan International presented various skits, dances, a talk show and songs. The theme of the I-day was eco-independence celebrated on Wednesday. Sat Paul Mittal School: A play in Hindi - A journey through sixty years of Independence, was staged at Sat Paul Mittal School. Lt Col (retd) Dr D.B. Sharma said that no culture is strong enough to pull us out of our roots on the occasion. GNI Public School: Primary wing of the school celebrated I-Day. The kids presented speeches, patriotic songs and poems. The principal tried to convey the significance of the I-Day to the students. Atam Public Senior Secondary School: Dance performances on patriotic songs were presented by students on the I-Day at Atam Public Senior Secondary School. The senior students participated in patriotic song competition. BCM School, Dugri: The students of BCM School, Dugri involved themselves in different activities on I-Day like singing patriotic songs, flag making, and listened with rapt attention to stories of freedom fighters. |

Ruchika crowned Miss Fresher

Ludhiana, August 16 Gurbir Singh Sarna, president of the Guru Nanak Education Trust, and Principal Charanjit Mahal presided over the function. For the Miss Fresher title, there were 20 contestants. Devinderjit, Bhupinder and Jaskirat were the judges. Ruchika of BCA-I was crowned Miss Fresher while Ravneet and Jasmeet were declared the first and second runners-up, respectively. Vanshikha was selected Miss Elegant and Damanpreet bagged the title of Miss Beautiful Smile. Meanwhile, students of Guru Nanak Girls College have brought laurels to the institution in the results of MSc first-year (mathematics) declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. There are 24 first divisions. Garima topped the college with 81.8 per cent marks while Charu got the second position with 77.2 per cent. Ruchi was placed third in the college with 74.2 per cent. I-Day celebrations The NSS unit of the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, organised a one-day camp to celebrate 60 years of India’s Independence here yesterday. As many as 67 students attended the camp. The college campus was decorated by NSS volunteers with the Tricolour and balloons. The national anthem was recited by all participants. Patriotic songs, speeches and talks were organised by NSS programme officers, in which students took part with great fervour. Parveen Arora, NSS programme officer, delivered a lecture on “India at sixty”. Manju Chawla, Principal of the college, congratulated the students on this occasion. LCET The management department of the Ludhiana College of Engineering and Technology (LCET), Katani Kalan, celebrated Independence Day on the college campus with great enthusiasm yesterday. College freshers organised the function. Harsh, Meenu, Pradeep and Pallavi delivered speeches on patriotism and highlighted the role of martyrs in the freedom struggle. Vikas presented mimicry and Sandeep Kaur enthralled the audience with her poetry on freedom struggle. |
