30 cartridges found: As many as 30 cartridges were from a house at Thullewal village, 15 km from here, on Saturday. The house belongs to former sarpanch Gurdit Singh. Now, the house has been given to a private mobile company. When labourers started digging the land a pot containing 30 live cartridges were found. SP (D) said the cartridges had been seized.

SSP’s effigy burnt: Activists of the local unit of the Bajrang Dal led by it district president Jatinder Kumar burnt an effigy of a SSP near the Clock Tower on Saturday. They were protesting against non-registration of a case against the activists of the Ambedkar Sena for showing disrespect to Hindu deities.

One murder: The body of an unidentified person was found by the Dehlon police in Agwar Ladhai in suspicious circumstances on Saturday. The Dehlon police has registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC on the complaint of Vijay Kumar Sahi of Dehlon. The police suspected that some unknown person has murdered him by hitting with the brick.
ONE HELD: Tarlok Singh of Agwar Gujjran, Jagraon was arrested by the local police on the charge of gambling as he was alluring the public to multiply their money by investing in some number. The police recovered Rs 500, number slips and other articles from him. Case under Gambling Act has been registered.

Youth dies of excessive intake of liquor: Amandeep, a 24-year-old resident of Teeda village, died of excessive liquor consumption. Amandeep was a truck driver. As per information, he had gone to Chandigarh in the evening and had liquor with his friends at some tavern after which he fell unconscious at around 11:30 pm. He was rushed to PGIMER and later died at around 2:30 am. Police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 CrPc.
Seized: The Mullapur police today confiscated nine bottles of country made liquor and arrested one person in this context. The accused has been identified as Megh Raj. He was arrested from Jainti Jain Mandir and was later released on bail.

Case solved: Gursewak Singh of Bhunder Dhani, Ganga under Rori police station, was found murdered here two days ago by unknown persons using a sharp-edged weapon.Ram Singh, SSP, said on Saturday it was found that Gursewak had been murdered by Gagandeep, alias Gaggi, and Sukhjinder Singh, alias Laddi, both residents of Mansa. Gursewak and Sukhjinder’s infatuation for the same girl had led to the crime.The weapon had been recovered from Gagandeep who had been arrested. A case had been registered under Section 302,
IPC.

Protest march: Radical Sikh organisations will hold protest march against a magazine for portraying Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as a villain on August 21. This decision was taken following a meeting of various political,religious and radical groups held at Bibi Kahan Kaur Gurdwara here on Friday evening. Repair of roads: About Rs 70 lakh is needed for repairing and upgrading the road network in the district. Superintendent engineer, PWD (B and R), Faridkot Circle, Narinder Singh Brar, said this after a meeting with PWD (B and R) minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa. Preliminary work like survey and estimate for upgrading and widening of roads must be completed by October.
Husband held: The CIA staff on Saturday arrested a person for murdering his wife with the help of his accomplice. According to police sources, the accused identified as Sukhminder Singh and Gurpreet Singh were arrested during a routine patrolling. A pistol and a few cartridges were recovered from an Indica car being driven by them. The Mehna police has registered a case against them.
