President Pratibha Patil today appointed former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Narayan Datt Tiwari as Governor of Andhra Pradesh and transferred Orissa Governor Rameshwar Thakur to the same post in Karnataka where he will succeed T.N Chaturvedi on the expiry of his term tomorrow.
Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, Congress Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra and a lawyer, will be the Governor of Orissa, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.
Shailendera Singh, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, has been transferred as Governor of Rajasthan for the remainder of his term in place of Dr A.R. Kidwai, who was holding additional charge of the state.
Dr Kidwai had been holding the charge of the state after Patil resigned to contest the presidential poll.
Nagaland Governor K. Sankaranarayanan has been given additional charge of Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
Sudarshan Agarwal, Governor of Uttarakhand, has been transferred to the gubernatorial post in Sikkim for the remainder of his term, replacing V. Rama Rao on the expiry of the latter’s term on August 24.
Meghalaya Governor B.L. Joshi will take over as the new Governor of Uttarakhand.
