Kauser Bi Case
No ‘info’ on killing

New Delhi, August 20
The Gujarat government today submitted before the Supreme Court that it had “no information about the time and manner” in which Kauser Bi, wife of alleged extortionist Sohrabuddin Sheik, was killed by the Gujarat police.

Though the investigating agency could gather information that after being intercepted in Andhra Pradesh, Kauser Bi was shifted to the Arhan Farm House in Gujarat, there was no further information on her whereabouts, senior counsel K.T.S Tulsi, appearing for the state told the apex court during the hearing.

The Gujarat government’s submission comes in the backdrop of the state’s earlier admission that after killing Sohrabuddin in a fake encounter, Kauser Bi along with another male accomplice was also bumped off to destroy evidence.

Moreover, the Gujarat government had submitted that Kauser Bi was killed and later cremated by the accused police personnel.

But today when the matter came up for hearing, Tulsi maintained that no further information on the time or manner of her killing was available with the investigating agency whose probe is being monitored by the bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and P.K. Balasubramanyan. — PTI
