GRM, Uttam academy enter semis
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, August 21
GRM Academy, New Delhi, and Baba Uttam Singh Hockey Academy, Khadur Sahib, moved to the semi-finals of the 6th SN Vohra Sub-junior (U-14) Hockey Tournament being played at the Sector 42 hockey stadium, here.

In the first match of the day, Baba Uttam Singh Hockey Academy, Khadur Sahib, beat CRZ School, Sonepat,1-0.

Inderjeet Singh executed the lone goal during the sixth minute of the match. Interestingly, no team could score any goal till the last whistle in this monotonous match. Both the teams came across many opportunities to score but could not capitalise because of poor distribution sense and rhythm. The Khadur Sahib team could have won with bigger margin had they managed to convert the four penalty corners they earned during the 13th, 16th, 17th and 56th minutes of the game. On the other hand, the Sonepat team failed to produce anxious moments throughout.

The second match of the day was interesting. GRM Academy, New Delhi, registered a well-fought victory against Mehta Gurukul Hockey Academy, Doraha, via a tiebreaker 4-2 wherein Manjit Singh, Ajay, Abhishek and Lalit converted the penalty strokes for the Delhi team while Mandeep and Varinder Singh converted two strokes.
