A blood donation camp was organised by the Apoorva Pande Foundation on the 10th birth anniversary of Apoorva at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, today.Apoorva met with a motor accident at Tarawadi near Karnal. She had to wait for one and a half hours for an ambulance on the highway though the police was informed within minutes of the accident.

Thieves strike 2 houses in same society
Panchkula, August 23
Two thefts were reported from a group housing society in Mansa Devi Complex, here today. Residents of the same block of GH-31, M.K. Bhatia and Geetika Arora, reported a loss of cash and jewellery in a daylight theft.

Judges Inquiry Bill faces dissent

Clouds of dissent are hovering over the Law Ministry’s much-touted Judges (Inquiry) Bill and it seems highly improbable if the Bill will see the light of the day in its present avatar.A member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law and Justice, Virendra Bhatia, has expressed strong reservations on the Judges (Inquiry) Bill which, among other things, stipulates action against judges merely on the basis of public complaints.

Saini case: HC wants report on POs in 2 week
Chandigarh, August 23 Coming down heavily on the UT police for not making “worthwhile” efforts to bring absconding proclaimed offenders (POs) behind the attack on police officer Sumedh Saini, the Punjab and Haryana Court has asked the UT IG to constitute a special investigation team to look into the matter and report within two weeks.
