Chaos outside schools at rush hour

It is chaotic outside all leading schools of the city during rush hours, when the schools open and close. No matter how wide the road may be outside the schools, there would necessarily be chaos once the students come and leave in the morning and afternoon respectively. Although during the mornings the problem is not felt much as there is no rush on the roads, during the closing time in the afternoon, it is a nightmare for people who drive along those schools.

Father, son clash with cops

A father-son duo of Mohar Singh Nagar, who had formed a vigilante squad to kill an alleged goon, had a clash with the police in bakshi khana, district courts complex, over the issue of allowing them to have a talk with their relatives.

Two killed, 2 hurt in mishap
Ludhiana, August 24
Two persons from Ferozepore were killed and two others, including a woman, were wounded in a head-on collision between a car and a private transport bus on the Ludhiana-Ferozepore road this morning. The deceased were identified as Varinder Singh and his driver Surinder. Manju, wife of Varinder, and their son Vikas were wounded.

Herbal products ‘gaining’ popularity

After cotton, whitefly attacks pulses
Ludhiana, August 24
Pulse crops such as urdbean, mungbean and soybean have been heavily attacked by an insect pest called whitefly. The attack has been witnessed in all the pulse-growing areas of Punjab. This insect has appeared in epidemic form due to the hot weather conditions coupled with the dry monsoon spell prevailing in the state over the last few weeks. Such weather conditions are conducive for the rapid multiplication of the pest.

PAU Zone lifts cricket title

Fine batting by Abhinav Bhatia (30 runs) and equally valuable contributions from Gurdeep and Vishwanath, who grabbed two wickets each, helped PAU Zone to thrash Ludhiana Zone II by seven wickets in the final of the Ludhiana inter-zonal cricket tournament (u-14) which concluded at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School ground here last evening.

Shuttlers excel at international meet

Local shuttlers, Pranav Chopra (Jerry) and Raj Kumar, have done the city proud. They gave a stupendous performance to help India advance into the quarterfinal of the World Youth Badminton Championship currently being held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
