Football
Chandigarh, August 30 The solitary goal, which enabled the team to lift the trophy, came in the 11th minute through Meghna. Although the hosts played well and got several chances to bulge the net, the alert Carmel’s custodian thwarted all such moves. On one occasion, the crosspiece came in Saupin's way. Meghna, the top scorer of Carmel, once again rose to the occasion and snatched the match-winner off a sudden move from the left flank, stunning Saupin's goalkeeper Palhi. Earlier, during the skill tests conducted by the Chandigarh Football Association, Shirika Kaul (Carmel Convent) and Rumanjot Kaur (St Stephen's-45) secured the first and second positions, respectively. In dribbling, Neeti (Saupin's School) finished winner and Meghna (Carmel Convent) secured the second position. In the penalty kick competition, Navreet (Saupin's) came first while Gurleen (St Stephen's) stood second. |
