Come September and farmers will be relieved of hassles to visit patwaris for the copies of land records. The computerisation of land and revenue records of the district is in its final phase and will be completed by August 31.

All’s not well in Madhopura

The well is not 100 ft deep as the residents of Madhopura village would like a visitor to believe. Its depth is about 70 ft, enough to engage three women to pull water from it.This is not only the story of one student but out of 272 students studying in the government school in Kotla many are planning to drop out next year due to their inability to travel 6-7 km daily for further studies.

Company outlets moving out

Kundli, which is located on the NH-1 on the Delhi-Haryana border, started attracting a number of companies a couple of years back that opened its outlets for selling products at factory prices. Some of these include Red Tape, Woodland, Richlook and Crocodile.

A helping hand for physically challenged
Ambala, August 30
The love for his country has brought US-based NRI Raj Aggarwal back to his place of birth at Ambala where he has started a centre for providing the Jaipur foot to the physically challenged free of cost. It has been three years since the inception of the centre, which is run by the Durga Charan Trust in collaboration with Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti.

Improving cattle breed for higher yield
Dadupur Khurd (Karnal), August 30
What started in 1957 has turned into one of the Karnal district’s crowning glory. Rajbir Singh, a third generation dairy farmer, is running a dairy here where the per day milk output is an astounding 550 litres in the months of November to April. In summer, the output drops to a still impressive 225 litres, as most of the animals get pregnant.

Gurgaon in for major facelift

There is good news for all those who are linked with Gurgaon. The city, a hot favourite with multinationals, is now in focus for infrastructure development. Gurgaon will be one of the main beneficiaries in HUDA’s Rs 1564-crore three-year action plan to provide infrastructure in a time-bound manner to 19 Haryana towns.

Timber market not out of the woods yet
Yamunanagar, August 30
The largest timber market of the state, located on the Saharanpur-Kurukshetra highway near Saharanpur, has become a major cause of traffic jams and fatal road accidents on this busy road.A large number of tractor-trailers and trucks download timber brought from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand every day at the market.

Hooda keeps advisers guessing on new CS

Who will be the next chief secretary? No one except Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has the answer to this question, though just one day remains before chief secretary Prem Prashant demits office on superannuation. Hooda has not revealed his mind even to his advisers so far on this issue, which is not strange. In the past too, his advisers remained in the dark about his choice for the top bureaucratic post in the state till the last day.

Jind may be one of the oldest districts and an important political hub of Haryana, but it remained way behind in the matter of overall development, especially basic amenities and related infrastructure. While more than one-fourth of the city is still deprived of piped water supply, at least 42 per cent of the urban area lacks proper sewerage system.

Industrialists rue poor facilities
Jhajjar, August 30
The Modern Industrial Estate (MIE) of Bahadurgarh, one of the oldest industrial towns of the state, has become the victim of official apathy as it still lacks basic facilities. The essential infrastructure, including roads, water supply and sewerage, continues to be a mirage for the MIE, Phase 1 and Phase 2. Industrialists allege that “inspector raj” is not yet over and officials of many departments keep harassing them on one pretext or the other.
