Global recognition for cardiac surgeon
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, August 30
Director and chairman, Cardiac Sciences at Ludhiana Mediciti, Dr Harinder Singh, has won accolades for a unique minimally invasive technique devised by him.

His technique has been endorsed by heart associations all over the world and is also being published in the prestigious International Journal of Cardiac Surgery. Dr Bedi has been invited to present the hybrid technique of combining surgery with endovascular stenting at the prestigious 7th International Congress on Coronary Artery Diseases in Venice. The technique being used by him in his surgical practice has also been selected for presentation at the TCT (Trans Catheter Therapeutics) in Washington later this year. Both are the only papers from India for the conferences.

Dr Bedi said endovascular surgery is a new modality of treatment for minimally invasive ‘endograft’ repair of the aorta - the main artery leading from the heart to the rest of the body. The innovative technique might save more lives than traditional open chest surgery, he claims.
