Made in heaven
Solemnised in Phuket

Marriages may be made in heaven, but more and more couples are now solemnising them at exotic locations. It may leave you baffled if you still haven’t received an invite for an out-of-this-world marriage party, but prospective brides and grooms are actually tying the knot with the idea of legalising their coming together at outlandish locations like Thailand, and even Malaysia. Even couples facing difficulties in going abroad due to financial, or family, reasons are just not taking each other for better or worse in green belts adjoining their houses, or in hotels decked up, with nice psychedelic lights, especially for the purpose. They are undertaking the uphill task of organising ostentatious weddings by driving down the road meandering its way through the hustle and bustle of city existence for reaching Kasauli, or other pristine locations.

Early 1990s: A husband gets back home after a late night meeting. The wife stays awake. She helps the husband take off shoes, serves him dinner and collects his clothes for laundry. A lipstick mark on the collar and two crumpled movie tickets in the pocket stop her in her tracks. Result: Caught
Fast-forward 2007
: A workaholic husband texts his wife to inform he will be late. He uses the second key to enter his home, heats the dinner kept in the fridge, and sleeps. A beep on the cell wakes the wife, the message reads: Thanks for the good time last night, luv. Result: Caught

Ragging vs Reputation

An educational institute is the foundation for academic and overall development of a child. It teaches the students civilised behaviour and also the meaning of discipline, reverence, and responsibility. In turn the students are the mirror of the institutes where they study. Despite strict rules and untoward incidents, ragging of juniors and freshers is common in many schools and colleges.

Ek tha Raja...
It’s periodical, but the message the students of Department of Indian Theatre are trying to spread is very much relevant to modern society. So when you watch the Pradhan trying to get his illiterate brother-in-law appointed as Kotwal in the king’s court, you know it’s an appeal for the masses to give people their due recognition on basis of merit.

Folk music of any region has a soulful touch that makes people long to hear it,” asserts the versatile folk singer Dolly Guleria, disciple and daughter of legendary Surinder Kaur. Dolly with her unique gayaki has been reigning supreme for four decades. Environment go a long way in grooming of an artiste and Dolly was lucky to have imbibed the essential traits at home. On a balmy weekday afternoon, a motley group of city couples tiptoe into Ruby Tuesday. Glowing with confidence and buoyed by chutzpah, these duos seem keen on savoring the taste — not just of the lunch, but of life’s ‘fun’ pie as well. And so begins a scintillating conversation that sparkles with jokes, fitness tips, movies, brands, designers… Mind you, these are no ‘desperate housewives’ and their hubbies, seeking refuge from domestics with a film followed by foodie delights.

Six -year-old Ronen is an artist. He draws everything in three-dimensional perspectives, an ability rarely found amongst his peers. His report card from Carlton Hill Primary School at Brighton, UK, reads like a parents’ dream come true. It endorses the fact that he is “well above age expectation.”  When he returns in a couple of years, will India afford him the same freedom and guidance or will he be subjected to rote learning and off the board notes?
