Srinagar, September 1
Twelve persons, including seven civilians and five security personnel, were injured when militants detonated an IED planted in a parked car on the airport road at Hyderpora here this evening.
The police here said two vehicles, including the IED-laden Maruti car bearing No: JK01A-5234 and a passing vehicle of the Border Security Force (BSF), were damaged in the explosion which took place at about 6.30 pm this evening. Five BSF personnel and seven civilians were injured in the explosion, the police said.
“We saw some injured being shifted to hospital”, an eyewitness said. He claimed to have seen a driver coming out from the vehicle in an injured condition. He said the blast was so powerful that windscreens of several vehicles shattered.
Elsewhere, one person was killed and two others injured in separate incidents of violence while a large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered during searches in Jammu and Kashmir since yesterday.
Unidentified militants shot dead Mohammad Amin Khan, a retired Superintendent of Police (SP) at Baba Gund, Pattan in Baramulla district, last evening.
His PSO, Constable Mohammad Iqbal, was also injured in the firing by militants, the police here said. SPO Ved Raj was injured when suspected militants fired upon him at the Saras Bupa bridge in Doda district today.
Security forces recovered one UMG, one belt box, 192 rounds of AK ammunition and one UBGL during searches in the Duninar forest area of Anantnag district, a defence spokesman here said.
