Conflict between principal and managing committee
Our Correspondent

Samrala, September 9
Nankana Sahib Public School, Samrala, the oldest and the only institution of the town affiliated with CBSE, Delhi, has become an arena of direct conflict between the school principal Kuldeep Kaur and a few of her supporters on the one hand and the local managing committee on the other hand. The school has lost its reputation it enjoyed in the past.

Kuldeep Kaur, at a well attended press conference at Neelon restaurant today 10 km from here, said it all happened with a joke published in the school magazine (Hope in 2006). The joke is said to have hurt the religious feelings of the section of people.

Taking corrective measures, she immediately stopped the circulation of the magazine and sent written apology to the heads of the religious bodies. But the people with narrow religious and political vested interests made an issue out of it. The local management committee of the school lodged an FIR against Kuldeep Kaur, two other teachers, and the young girl students also, under Section 295-A of the IPC. The Principal and two teachers were suspended with immediate effect and the case is still pending with the court.
