The district consumer forum has directed the BSNL not to allocate cell number 94640-00000 to any person. These interim orders were issued by the president of the forum, A.S. Narula while hearing a complaint by Neeraj Chawla, president of the anti-corruption federation of India.

Raninder Singh and Raminder Singh, son and son-in-law, respectively, of former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today appeared before the Ludhiana Vigilance Bureau in connection with the infamous City Centre scam.

860 gm tumour taken out
from heart

In a complex surgical procedure that lasted for more than two hours, cardio-thoracic surgeons at a hospital here removed a tumour weighing 860 gm from the surface of the heart of a female patient. The normal weight of a female heart is just about 225 gm.
Livestock fair at GADVASU

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal inaugurated a livestock fair at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) here today. Vice-chancellor V.K. Taneja was the guest of honour. “Uromin Lick”, a feed supplement prepared by the nutrition department was released by Badal on this occasion.
Depositor seeks action for postal fraud

Madan Lal, resident of Gobindpura village near here, posted as line-man at Bhadson sub-division office of the PSEB, who believed that the post-office deposits were the safest, was not aware that he would be defrauded in small saving deposits. Talking to mediapersons, he disclosed photo copies of his complaint submitted to senior superintendent, post officer, Patiala, and senior officer of the department at Chandigarh. He has alleged misappropriation of Rs 1 lakh 46 thousand and 800.
CSD canteen inaugurated
Jagraon, September 13
The CSD canteen was today inaugurated by NRI Buta Singh, chairman welfare society of ex-servicemen, at Lopon Ashram, Jagraon, which has become operational from today. This shall be open on second and fourth Thursdays of every month from 10 am to 4 pm. Col. Bhag Singh, VSM president of Indian ex-services league, Punjab and Chandigarh unit, Ludhiana, said this has been possible due to their long struggle carried in collaboration with the district Sainik Board.
