Ludhiana/Panchkula, September 15
B.I.S. Chahal, former media adviser to former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, apparently fearing arrest in another case especially after the arrest of former Punjab DGP S. S. Virk, got himself admitted to a hospital in Karnal earlier. Under treatment in the General Hospital, Panchkula, Chahal was discharged from the hospital this evening.

Chahal skipped appearance in the court for the second consecutive date in the land grabbing case of Daad village against him. Finding the Congress-ruled Haryana a safe haven, he chose it for his treatment.

Medical documents submitted by him in the court state that he cannot appear in the court today due to acute vertigo, cervical spondylitis and hypertension. He had been admitted to General Hospital,Sector 6, Panchkula, since September 13.

On September 5, documents submitted by him for seeking exemption from court appearance said Chahal suffered from cervical pain while travelling in Haryana. He was examined by a Karnal-based doctor and was advised bed rest for at least four weeks.

The judge had, however, allowed him exemption only for that day. The fresh medical certificate submitted today is from a senior medical officer, General Hospital, Panchkula. The judge has posted the case for next hearing on October 5 after accepting the exemption plea for today.
