Jammu, September 16
An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a service rifle in Jammu district today.

Vijay Sohar fired at himself in 4th Signal unit in the Birpur area of Jammu district.

After hearing the gun shots, jawans and officers rushed to the barrack and found the jawan in a pool of blood, they said adding that he was rushed to military hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A family dispute is believed to have led the jawan to commit suicide, they said adding that he had returned from a month-long leave on September 8.

He hails from Atarsi, Madhya Pradesh.

A court of inquiry has been ordered. — PTI
