Surgical answer to
obesity problem
Ludhiana, September 18 This was stated by Dr K.S. Kular, a member of the Society of American gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, here last evening. He said the technique was an effective answer to obesity. “The patient can walk the very next day of surgery, there is no pain associated with the surgery or postoperatively. Weight starts reducing immediately after the surgery and in a matter of six months around 80 per cent of the excess body weight is shed off. Weight goes on decreasing for 24 to 48 months and thereafter stabilises,” he claimed. The technique, he added, had further advantage that the associated diseases like diabetes and hypertension were also controlled after surgery. There was significant health improvement that followed gastric bypass such as reduced blood pressure, improved or resolved diabetes and reduced sleep disorder. |
