Dev Anand plans another book

Mumbai, September 23
After penning his autobiography “Romancing with Life”, to be released by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, Bollywood’s evergreen hero Dev Anand plans to write another book as he had much more to say.

“I am very excited and anxious to know the people’s response to my book. If the book is liked, I will write another one because there is still so much to say, which cannot be included in one book,” the veteran actor told PTI.

“My life is still going on and will go on, no matter what people say. I am still functioning and growing with every experience, which means I am still strong enough to continue further. One book is finished. But the life has not stopped,” the actor said.

Dev Anand’s first book, published by Penguin, will be released by the Prime Minister in Delhi. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will be the chief guest at the function.

“I felt very humbled after meeting the Prime Minister, when I had gone to invite him. He personally came to receive me at his doorsteps. He immediately asked me what time was suitable for releasing the book. I gave him the time and he agreed,” Dev Anand said.

“Then I approached Sonia Gandhi. She agreed to be the chief guest at the function”.

According to Dev Anand, the date of his book launch is special as it marks the birthday of both — the actor and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

“That moment will be very important for me as we are going to wish each other. Hence the timing of the book release adds more to the excitement,” he said.

Dev Anand, who acted in his recent home production “Mr Prime Minister”, said that in real life he never aspired to be the PM.

“I have played the character of a PM. But I personally don’t aspire to be one. I am there in the movies to take up issues and send out message to people. Nor do I want to enter politics again after the aborted attempt during Emergency, (about) which I have said in my book,” the actor said. — PTI
