A lot of hue and cry has been raised by the farmers in the region, who were provided "substandard diseased seeds" of Basmati by
Markfed. The farmers alleged that under the name of contact farming, they were being "duped" by the agencies. Terming the diversification and contract farming as "failure", the affected farmers have demanded compensation for their damaged crop.

ICAR deputy DG visits vet varsity

Deputy Director General (Animal Science), Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), K.M.Bujarbaruah, visited Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) here today. The veterinary hospital complex and dairy, poultry and fisheries farms were shown to the visiting dignitary. He was also briefed about various research, teaching and extension activities under taken by faculty and students.

The objective of the workshop was to provide an opportunity to research students of MEd to interact with experts and enrich their skills and upgrade their knowledge on research methodology.
