Sirsa, September 29
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was today grilled by the Punjab police for his alleged act of imitating 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. He was quizzed in his “gufa” (residence in the dera) for about an hour.

However, the investigation into the case remained inconclusive, as he reportedly did not answer all queries. This was the fifth visit of a police team from Bathinda, comprising 20 officials and led by DSP Surinder Pal Singh, for questioning the Dera chief.

The DSP told TNS that the dera chief did not give satisfactory answers of all questions related to the case. He said the team would have to come again for questioning.

“We have confiscated most of the articles required as evidence in the case from the dera except the CDs of a controversial ceremony that was held at the Salabatpura dera in May this year. The vital evidence that we have seized includes the dera chief’s dress he wore allegedly to imitate Guru Gobind Singh, ‘kalgi’, copies of the dera’s daily newspaper ‘Sach Kahoon’ and a magazine,” he added.

It is learnt that the dera chief was quizzed about where he got the dress from. Besides, he was asked to provide details of persons whom he had served Jame-e-Insan during the ceremony and about the identity of the persons who had paid for the controversial advertisements which appeared in newspapers allegedly depicting him dressed like Guru Gobind Singh.
