Rohtak, October 1
A teenaged son of a woman professor of the local PGIMS was found murdered this afternoon. The professor and her elder son were found injured and have been hospitalised. According to police sources and eyewitnesses, some “tantrik” seems to be involved in the gory incident. The husband and a domestic servant of the professor are missing since this afternoon, when the incident came to light.

The neighbours of Prof Promila Malik saw the gate of her house, located on the PGI campus, opened this afternoon. Sensing that something untoward had happened, they entered the house. The neighbours found Dr Promila’s younger son Peeyush (12) lying in a pool of blood on a bed. Dr Promila and her elder son Abhishek (20) were lying unconscious on the floor.

Since there was nobody else at home, the neighbours informed the PGI authorities about the incident. The PGI director, Dr S.S. Sangwan, and other senior functionaries rushed to the spot and informed the police authorities about the matter.

On being contacted, Dr Sangwan said such an incident had never occurred on the PGI campus before. Terming the incident “unfortunate”, he said the police had been informed about the matter and was investigating the case.

According to the sources, a blood-stained kitchen knife, some semi-burnt clothes and scattered oil were found at the scene of the incident. Dr Promila’s husband, who works in Amritsar, was also here this morning. However, he and a recently employed domestic servant have been missing ever since the incident came to light.

Another doctor residing on the PGI campus said Dr Promila, a professor of anaesthesia at the PGIMS, was depressed for the past few days and was on leave. Her younger son is said to have called some acquaintance recently and stated that there was a threat to his life.
