Chandigarh, October 7
A series of events organised by the department of tourism, Chandigarh administration, marked the Chandigarh Heritage Festival in the city today.
At dawn, the Sukhana Lake echoed with the morning raga, performed by Subhash Gosh, a city-based musician, who enthralled the audience as well as the morning walkers with his melodies.
Thereafter, a heritage walk was held in collaboration with INTACT. The walk started off from the Open Hand Monument and culminated at the Bougainvillea Garden.

Atray, director Chandigarh Tourism, A.K. Garg, general manager of State Bank of India, along with other officers, students and residents of the city, participated in the event.
Meanwhile, noted Sufiana and folk maestro, Hans Raj Hans, presented a lively performance at the Open Hand Monument, here, tonight. The event was organised by the Sangeet Natak Academy in collaboration with the Chandigarh administration.
Hans brought alive the mysticism and spiritual contents of the Sufiana poetry by embellishing it with sleek presentation of lyrics and music. He dolled out the ‘kalams’ and ‘kafies’ of sages including Shah Husain and Bulle Shah.
The maestro sent the audience in trance as he delved deep into their moods, himself drawing a pleasure out of it. The Sufiana soirée attained climax with Hans lost in his creation and the intrusive audience absorbed fully in the soulful spell.
Earlier, the academy chairperson Kamal Tiwari welcomed the chief guest and introduced the artist to the audience. UT home secretary Krishan Mohan and mayor Harjinder Kaur graced the occasion.
