Free eye check on World Sight Day
Ludhiana, October 10 World Sight Day is a global day of awareness which draws attention to the problem of avoidable blindness. This year, World Sight Day is
being observed on October 11 and the focus will be on the impact of blindness and vision loss in
children. According to the CMCH authorities, the surgeries registered during the camp, will be conducted free of cost later. The camp and the teachers training program will be organised in collaboration with Orbis International. |
Geetansh, Akhil steer KVM to win
Ludhiana, October 10 Government School won the toss and asked KVM to bat first. Their decision, however appeared to be a miscalculated one as KVM batsmen went on a rampage to hoist a mammoth total of 292 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Their innings revolved around Geetansh Khera and Akhil Aggarwal. Geetansh remained unconquered on 142 runs while Akhil scored a forceful 116. Salil contributed 19 runs. For Government School, Sidharth took two wickets for 67 runs while Baijnath and Munish scalped one wicket each conceding 34 and 31 runs, respectively. Facing an uphill task of scoring 293 runs, Government School players wilted under pressure as their innings folded at 98 runs in 33 overs. Only two batsmen, Munish (15) and Piyush (11) could reached double figure. Gurdeep and Arjun scored eight runs each while Amit and Gagandeep contributed five and four runs, respectively. Abhinav was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets for 16 runs. Salil captured two wickets for two runs while Geetansh Khera captured two wickets for 15 runs and Abhijit Randhawa chipped in with two wickets for 19 runs. Akhil Aggarwal accounted for one wicket for 18 runs. KVM has qualified for the PCA Boost Punjab State Inter-School Cricket Tournament scheduled to start at Chandigarh from second week of October. |

Govt school girls excel in b’ ball tourney
Ludhiana, October 10 In the semi final, PAU zone thrashed Sahnewal zone 15-0 to strom into the final where they defeated Khanna zone 19-8. For their outstanding contribution in this tournament, seven girls from Government Model Senior Secondary School, PAU campus, have been selected to represent Ludhiana district in the Punjab Schools Inter-District Basketball Championship to be held at Kotkpura from October 11 to 14. Sanjeev Thapar, principal of the school, congratulated the girls, DPE Jagroop Singh and coach Jasvinder Singh Bhandari for bringing fame to the school. |
