Tantrik Act? Rohtak, October 10 Addressing a news conference here today, SSP Hanif Qureshi said the couple had been booked on the basis of statements recorded and evidence collected in the case. While Dr Ashok was arrested and produced in a local court, Dr Promila is undergoing treatment at the PGI. Qureshi said the evidence indicated that some “tantrik” activity was performed by the couple at their residence. “Since Dr Ashok was away to Delhi at the time of the death of his son, he has been booked under Section 120-B of the IPC,” he maintained, adding that a case under Section 304 of the IPC has been registered against Dr Promila. According to the theory of the police, the couple’s elder son Abhishek had been trying to clear the medical entrance exam, but was unsuccessful. Some “guru” of Dr Promila reportedly appeared in her dream and told her to take some blood of her younger son, Peeyush, who was a bright boy, and transfuse it into the body of Abhishek. “However, while the alleged transfusion was going on, Peeyush died, following which Dr Promila tried to commit suicide. In the ensuing scuffle, Abhishek was also injured,” said Qureshi. He said later a statement given by Abhishek that some masked men had attacked them seemed misleading and away from reality. The SSP said Dr Ashok had also admitted that his wife used to have premonitions. Qureshi said Dr Promila’s mental health could not be said to be okay as she was under depression and was undergoing psychiatric treatment. The police has seized a kitchen knife and a blood-stained syringe reportedly used in the transfusion process. |
