CBI raids on a fat General’s premises

New Delhi, October 10
The CBI today raided the premises of a Major-General posted at the Army’s South Western Command in Jaipur for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and claimed to have recovered assets worth several crores. Sleuths of the anti-corruption wing of the CBI conducted simultaneous raids at 12 places in Delhi, Jaipur, Shimla, Gurgaon and Mumbai, a CBI press note said here.

The CBI conducted the raids following the registration of an FIR, which claimed that Major-General Anand Kumar and his family members had six immovable properties worth Rs 5.33 crore (approx) at New Delhi, Shimla and Gurgaon. The accused and his family members also have bank balances and fixed deposits to the tune of Rs 57.86 lakh (approx) and various other investments to the tune of Rs 1.21 crore (approx), the press note added.

The total disproportionate assets have been calculated at Rs 4.78 crore (approx). Two floors of a building under construction in Defence Colony, New Delhi, were also unearthed, it said.
