Help for patients at GMSH-16
emergency
Chandigarh October 11 The department has deputed helpers to receive the patients unable to move on their own at the entry of the Emergency and will help them in completing the formalities and shifting them from the porch to the emergency examination room and thereafter to the investigation department. The helpers have been provided with jackets bearing their designation so that they can be identified easily and the patients or the attendants can approach them at the time of need. The patients and their attendants coming to the Emergency need to reach the doctor concerned immediately and the helpers will of help in this, said Dr M S Bains, director, Helath Services, Chandigarh. Home-cum-health secretary Krishna Mohan said 16 helpers wearing yellow jackets will be deputed for this duty. |
Hosts DAV-8 rout Sanjay school
Chandigarh, October 11 Batting first, SPS scored 84 in 24.3 overs. Disciplined bowling of Akshay and Vipul did not allow any rival batsman to settle for big innings. Akshay and Vipul clinched three wickets each, conceding 28 and 15 runs, respectively. Sohraab took two for nine. DAV achieved the target in 25.2 overs. The team made 86, losing just three wickets. Carmel Convent book berth in final
Chandigarh, October 11 Carmel Convent School will face the winners of the second semifinal to be played between St Stephen's School, Sector 45, and Sacred Heart, Sector 26. Earlier, the first half went barren but in the second half, Carmel pumped in two quick goals. The first goal was netted by Meghna Bhasin in the 32nd minute while the second goal came through Ashita Bansal, who scored an angular shot to seal the 2-1 victory. In the match between St Stephen's School, Sector 45, and St Joseph's School, Sector 44, the former thrashed the latter by 4-0. Shikha Sharma stole the show by scoring all four goals to storm her team into semifinals. She also scored her first hat-trick of the tournament. The first goal was scored by Shikha in the 13th minute. Her other goals came in the 18th, 32nd and 40th minute. In another match, Sacred Heart, Sector 26, beat St Soldier's International School, Sector 28, by 4-0 in the quarterfinals. Tanvi Bhargava opened the account for the winners in the very second minute. Arshjot extended the lead in the 15th minute. Pooja and Tanvi struck in the 33rd and 40th minute, respectively. Tomorrow's fixture (semi-final): St Stephen's-45 vs Sacred Heart-26 at 9.30 am at the Sector 17 football stadium. |

PU Campus, DAV College set up summit clash
Chandigarh, October 11 For PU, Puneet thrashed Munish 2-0 (21-18, 21-11) and Oscar Bansal beat Anam 2-0 (21-12, 21-18) in singles while in doubles PU duo Puneet and Robin thumped Anam and Matul 2-0. Narinder and Pankaj emerged winners for DAV. In the basketball (women) tournament held at the PU basketball courts, Khalsa College Women, Ludhiana, outclassed GCG, Sector 11, 35-21. |
