Agnihotri brothers regale devotees

Panchkula, October 14
Acclaimed light classical vocalists Agnihotri bandhu from Lucknow presented a devotional musical soiree “Bhajan Sandhya” at the Mata Mansa Devi Sthal as a part of the ongoing Ashwin Navratra Mela being held at the shrine complex.

Chief guest Rajender Kataria, chief administrator, SMMDS Board, and DC Panchkula lighted the auspicious lamp before the duo of Davesh and Rakesh Agnihotri took centre stage only to submerge the audience, mostly devotees, in blissful devotion.

The bandhu, incidentally twins, gave a serene start to the programme with a soulful rendition of ‘Jag janni jai jai maa’, set to raga ‘darbari’ before adoring the next ‘Ya devi sarv..’ with 54 sacred invocations of Goddess Durga.

The Shiv tandav with shlokas and ‘Bhardo anchal’, a composition of Padmashri Dr Yogesh Parveen was well received. After a long spell, they concluded the soiree with a prayer “ Oh shakti”.

Thakur Parshad, Mohd Naseem, Krishan Mohan, Dharmesh and Pankaj Mehta provided musical accompaniment.

Musical play on Bhagat Singh

Patiala, October 14
The National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS) organised a Punjabi musical play, ‘Nahin Labhne Laal Guache’, at Baradari Gardens on the completion of six years of the Patiala Gardens Theatre Movement.

The play highlighted Bhagat Singh’s ideology in the light of his inherited bravery and sacrifice that was fired by conviction to free motherland from the clutches of the foreign rule. Ajit Singh, chief manager of State Bank of Patiala, Bhupindra Road branch, and Surjit Singh distributed the prizes to 20 artistes. — TNS
