Ritu emerges champ

Ritu of Government High School, Dadu Majra, grabbed the first place in the 24 kg weight category while Kusumjit of AKSIPS-41 got the second place during the Inter-school Wushu Tournament held at the multipurpose hall of Sector 42 Complex, here, today.

Meanwhile, Sonia of GMHS-37 and Garima of GMSSS-10 jointly shared the third place.

28 kg: 1 Ritika, 2 Meharpreet, 3 Anupam and Kajal.

32 kg: 1 Shivani, 2 Roopa, 3 Shallu and Shubhani.

36 kg: 1 Prerna, 2 Rekha, 3 Hemani and Monika.

40 kg: 1 Babli, 2 Harsimran, 3 Jhanvi and Pragya.

44 kg: 1 Sangita, 2 Shiva, 3 Hema and Anu.

Basketball (girls): St Stephen’s-45 beat St Anne’s-32 in the u-17 basketball meet held at Sports Complex-46. Sarvhitkari School-40 defeated DAV-15. ISDS-21 beat Sacred Heart-26 and St Kabir-26 beat St Joseph’s-44.

In the u-14, St Kabir-26 b Baptist School-44, GMSSS-16 beat DAV-15. St Anne’s-32 defeated St Xavier’s-44.

Shivalik win by 10 wkts

Chandigarh, October 16
A magnificent 100-run partnership between Rajat and Navdeep for the opening wicket helped Shivalik Public School-41 (SPS-41) to rout St Stephen's School, Togan, by 10 wickets in the fourth Molly Carver Twenty20 Cup Cricket Tournament today. The meet is being held at St Stephen's School, Togan, near here.

SPS-41 achieved the 99-run target set by St Stephen's, Togan, in just 11.3 overs.

Earlier, St Stephen's, Togan, could pile up only 98 runs for 3 in 20 overs.

In the second match, St Stephen's-45 beat Shishu Niketan-22 by 14 runs. Shishu Niketan won the toss and put Stephen's to bat. Stephen's made 132 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Their innings was bolstered by a brilliant knock of 51 by Harmanpreet.

In reply, Shishu Niketan could make 119 for 7 in stipulated 20 overs.

St Stephen's-45 will meet Bhavan Vidyalaya of Panchkula in the first semifinal at 8.30 am tomorrow while SPS-41 will cross swords with Sanjay Public School-44 in the second semifinal at 1 pm.

Shivam, Sohraab star in DAV-8 win

Chandigarh, October 16
Scintillating batting by Shivam Pathania supported by Sohraab (4 for 6) and Ankit Kaushik (4 for 20) enabled DAVSSS-8 to beat Guru Nanak Public School (GNPS), Sector 36, on the final day of the PCA-Boost Cup Inter-school Cricket Tournament today at DAVSSS-8.

DAV-8 won the toss and decided to bat. They scored 273 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 40 overs. Shivam Pathania (78 n o), Vipul Chadha (68), Ankit Kaushik (48) and Nikhil Gangta (47) were the main scorers. Sanjog and Hitesh Bhutani were the main wicket-takers for GNPS. In reply, GNPS got out at just 71 runs in 23.1 overs. — TNS
