Principal thrashes student for exchanging seat
Mandi Ahmedgarh, October 16 Paramjit Kaur, a resident of Sudhar village, complained to the SHO, Sudhar, that her son Davinder Singh, a Class X student of GGS Public High School, Sudhar, was beaten mercilessly by Sukhwinder Singh, principal of the school, yesterday. Terming the action of the principal as vindictive, she urged the authorities to take stern action against him, who, according to her, had detained a number of other students also. Denying the charges, Sukhwinder Singh claimed that the student had been given mild punishment as he had insulted his teacher and the principal. "While the students were taking a test, Davinder kept on disturbing his teacher by shifting from one bench to another. Besides insulting his teacher, he behaved rudely with me also. He was hurt while running away from the school," alleged Sukhwinder Singh, adding that the parents of the student had created a scene in front of the school at the instigation of some notorious elements. According to the complainant, the child had been punished as he had dared to change his seat with another student. "Instead of asking him the reason for exchanging the seat, Sukhwinder Singh treated my son like a beast and thrashed him openly in the ground," Paramjit Kaur told the police, adding that Davinder had saved himself by running away from the school. He was later admitted to the civil hospital. While the police was yet to register a case, parents and management of the school reached a compromise. |
