ABOHAR Inauguration: Prof S. S. Bari, registrar, Panjab University, inaugurated the first session of the Kenway College of Education by lighting a lamp before the portrait of Bharat Mata here on Saturday. President Puran Chand Bansal, general secretary Sushil Garg and principal of the college Dr Satyender Singh welcomed the chief guests. Escape: The driver and his assistant escaped by swimming when their tractor-trailer slipped into a sub-canal, while crossing the partly-damaged bridge between Alamgarh and Dharampura villages on Saturday. The villagers said complaints on the poor condition of the bridge had been made made many times during the past 20 years, but had failed to attract the attention of the administration. MOGA PATIALA Celebrated: The festival of Dussehra was celebrated with great fervour by the staff and students of New Delhi Public School on the school premises, here, today. Tiny tots, dressed up like the characters of Ramayana, including Lord Rama, Hanumana and Lakshmana, presented a variety of items on the occasion. Dussehra: Bhupindra International Public School celebrated Dussehra here today. A colourful function was organised in the school on the occasion. Later, principal Indu Sharma distributed prizes to the winners and congratulated the students and the staff of the school for their efforts in making the show a success. The function concluded with the National Anthem. Sweets were also distributed among the students. Phagwara Bias alleged: The previous Congress and the present SAD-BJP governments have been working on the same lines by adopting a discriminatory attitude towards panchayat samitis.
