Vocational training better than fake degrees: Experts
Our Correspondent

Mandi Ahmedgarh, October 21
Terming language skill, computer science and client handling as effectual tools in the private sector, employment and administrative officials urged people to encourage their wards to get professional and vocational training instead of “buying” degrees from fake universities.

The call came on the conclusion of the month-long mass counselling programme undertaken by the district administration, education department and the employment department.

Various teams led by experts interacted with more than 4,000 students and unemployed youth at about three dozen educational institutes of Sangrur district.

The additional deputy commissioner, Sangrur, Indu, called upon the residents of the area to change the mindset of their wards and get them professional and vocational training instead of getting fake degrees.

“Observations have revealed that mere degrees without practical knowledge have served no purpose other than gracing name plates. An uneducated skilled person can earn higher than graduates and postgraduates of fake universities,” she said.

Ravinder Pal Singh, employment officer, said there was greater demand for skilled and semi-skilled workers in multinational companies setting up units in the state.
