DAV lads emerge champs

DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, and Guru Hargobind Senior Secondary Public School, Sidhwan, emerged champions in the boys and girls sections, respectively, of the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex Handball Tournament (u-14) held at GMT Public School, here, today.

In the boy’s section, the second and third positions were secured by BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School and Guru Hargobind Senior Secondary School, Sidhwan, respectively.

In the girl’s section, the second place went to BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary Schools while host, GMT Public School, had to content with third position.

Rupinder Singh, assistant education officer, Ludhiana, gave away prizes to the position holders. Kashmir Singh Thind and Jasbir Singh Thind, directors of GMT Public School, and principal Poonam K Sidhu thanked the chief-guest and congratulated the winners.

Wrestling: Bout begins over permission

Uncertainty prevails over the wrestling matches titled “India vs Rest of the World-War of Legends” scheduled to be held at Guru Nanak Stadium on October 27.

The office of the deputy commissioner said no permission had been sought for the event in writing, at least till morning.

The sources in Park Plaza hotel said as many as 19 rooms had been booked in advance for the event.

Sources in the administration also said the stadium had been booked and “the organisers could have missed the permission from the administration”.

The permission from the administration is needed for getting a formal clearance from the security and related issues. Wrestling legends of WWF and WWE, including Tiger Jeet Singh, Tiger Ali Singh, Sonjay Dutt, Killer Pane, Wolfgang and Steve Corino are likely to feature in this event.
