Tehelka Sting Patna,October 26 The demand by Lalu comes a day after the weekly newsmagazine, Tehelka, aired a sting operation on the 2002 riots, claiming that the massacre of Muslims was carried out in full knowledge of Modi. Talking to reporters here, Lalu said criminal cases should be instituted against the two leaders to send them to jail immediately. The RJD leader, whose party was pushed to the third position in Bihar by the BJP in the November,2005 assembly poll, claimed that the sting operation exposed Modi`s deep involvement in the post-Godhra Gujarat riots.”People now know the real faces involved in the crime against humanity,",he alleged. According to Lalu, since Modi enjoyed the patronage of senior BJP leader L K Advani, the latter could also not escape culpability for the mass murder. Lalu, however, apprehended that the BJP could utilise the sting operation to once again whip up passions in the state with an eye on elections. The six-month-long "investigation" by Tehelka reportedly claimed that the Gujarat murder of Muslims was not a spontaneous swell of anger, but a planned genocide strategised and executed by top functionaries of the RSS, the VHP, the Bajrang Dal and the state authorities, with the knowledge and sanction of Chief Minister Narendra Modi. |
