Man kills wife 20 days after marriage
Stages robbery at house

The police has booked a man and his “paramour” for allegedly killing his wife just 20 days after their marriage. Kuljit Singh allegedly stage-managed a robbery at his house in Basant Avenue to make it seem like intruders killed his wife and looted the house when she was alone.

ASI charged with possessing heroin innocent
Seized powder was not drug: report

Almost seven weeks after ASI Paramjit Singh was arrested for possessing 800 gm of heroin worth Rs 80 lakh, a chemical examination report has stated that the seized powder was not a drug.

The local police has booked four youths of Rohira village for assaulting and threatening to kill some residents of the village. Shiraj Mohamad, Mithu Khan, Raju Khan and Khaki Singh were booked for allegedly assaulting and threatening families of Sharif Mohamad and his brother Mohamad Sarwar last night.

Man held with poppy husk
Mandi Ahmedgarh, November 8
The Sudhar police arrested Ajay Rana, son of Surinder Rana of Kullan village in Sidhwan Bet, for allegedly smuggling and selling drugs and narcotics in the area. Around 25 kg of poppy husk was seized from his possession.

Bank branch opened
Amloh, November 8
A new branch of Kotak Mahindra Bank was inaugurated here yesterday by local Arhtiya Association chief and councillor Jiwan Kumar Puri. Around 95 villages under Amloh sub-division will benefit from the branch, he added.

Basketball league third leg from Nov 10

The third leg of the Punjab Annual Basketball League for men and women will be organised at Sujapur village, near here, from November 10 to 13. According to Punjab Basketball Association secretary Teja Singh Dhaliwal, the league is being organised by NRI Jagtar Singh in the memory of his brother Kuldeep Singh who was killed in the 1965 Indo-Pak war.

Jarkhar Academy in super league

Jarkhar Academy boys advanced into the super league phase in the u-17 years section of the 43rd All India Nehru Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at Shivaji Stadium, Delhi. In the first league match played yesterday, Jarkhar Academy, after trailing by two goals till the 67th minute of the match against last year’s semifinalists Manipur, bounced back to wrap it up 3-2.
