PAU Youth Fest
College of Agriculture lifts overall trophy

Ludhiana, November 8
College of Agriculture won overall trophy in the inter-college youth festival that concluded at Punjab Agricultural University last night. College of Agricultural Engineering was runner up. Raj Khurana, chief parliamentary secretary (finance), was the chief guest. He said he was aware of the financial constraints the university was facing and promised help to take the university out of the financial crunch.

Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, VC, gave away the prizes to the winning students in different categories.

The results are as follows: Clay modeling: 1-Sushila Choudhary (COA), 2-Richa Sharma (COBS&H) and 3-Jasleen Kaur (COHS). Rangoli: 1-Kaivta Chawla (COBS&H) , 2-Harminder Kaur (COBS&H) and 3-Sumeet Kaur. On the spot painting: 1-Shivani Malhotra (COHS),2-Jasleen Kaur (COHS) and 3-Navita . Udit Narula (COAE) declared best speaker and best actor, Kamya (COHS) was declared best actress, Jasleen Kaur (COHS) best artist, Rohit Dixit (COAE) best poet.

Tiny tots light up Diwali celebrations

Ludhiana, November 8
Diwali was celebrated at Everest Public Senior Secondary School here today.

Students of the junior wing along with tiny tots of Everest Playway and Nursery School came dressed as Lord Rama, Bharat, Hanuman, Sita, Shatrughan, Lakshman, Urmila.

The students also performed a colourful programme comprising dances and skits.

Principal Asha Sharma exhorted students to follow the path shown by Lord Ram. She explained the duties of students.

Association of PSEB Affiliated Schools of Punjab president Rajinder Krishan Sharma gave away prizes to tiny tots.

Saraswati Modern School also celebrated Diwali with zeal and enthusiasm. A cultural programme was organised on the occasion.

The function started with the lighting of the traditional lamp and Luxmi and Ganesh Pooja. This was followed by the rendition of bhajans and aarti by teachers and students.

A poster-making competition was organised for students of classes VI to VIII on “Save environment, reduce pollution” and “Say no to crackers”.

A stand-up comedy competition for senior classes based was also organised.

Tiny tots prepared cards for their parents under the guidance of teachers.

Saraswati Modern School, Pratap Singh Wala, was decorated with flowers and multicoloured ribbons for the occasion. An assembly on reducing pollution on Divali was held.

Headmistress Priyanka wished greeted students on the festival.

Doraha

Nursery wing of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Doraha, celebrated Diwali with enthusiasm on the school campus.

Celebrations started with lighting of 'Diyas' by Sukhpal Singh, director. Tiny tots dressed up as Ram, Lakshman, Sita and other characters of Ramayana presented events from the great epic. Nursery kids, recited a poem “Diwali Aayee”; where as prep class told the importance of 'diyas' in their poem -'Aao Appan Deep Jagaiye'. Kids of KG performed haryanavi dance. Class I kids didn’t forget Hanumanji and chanted Hanuman Chalisa. Class II children also expressed their craze for crackers in their poem - Bing, Bang, Boom. Umal Kaur, director, also talked to students about Diwali and advised them to handle the crackers with care. The celebrations ended with bursting of crackers, which gave a wave of happiness and laughter to little beings.

RIMT celebrates Aagaaz-07

RIMT engineering college and RIMT Maharaja Aggarsain engineering college celebrated Aagaaz-2007 freshers' party. Chief guest Nilabh Kishor, SSP, Fatehgarh Sahib inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. The programme began with Saraswati Bandhana, Sufi-kalam. Bhangra, classical dances, skits, regional dance were part of the nite. Dr.O.P.Singh,principal, said it is a tradition of RIMT institutes to welcome the new students every year at a function. Angand was selected Mr Aagaaz while Kamalpreet Kaur RIMT Engineering collegeand Gunwant and Shikha were selected Mr and Miss Aagaaz from Maharaja Aggarsain Engineering College.

GCW boarders light candles

Diwali was celebrated at the hostel of the Government College for Women here last evening. The principal of the college R.K.Aulakh also joined the celebrations. The hostel was decorated. The hostel warden Gurvinder Kaur and hostel head girl Prabhpreet Kaur welcomed the guests.

Punit of BA II year presented dance. Amandeep and Kamal from BA II year sang songs. Bhangra was presented by hostel residents. Candles were lit by the principal, vice-principal, warden and students.
