Militant holed up in hotel killed
Srinagar, November 8 While efforts were on to flush out the other militant, the operation has been suspended for the night and the area cordoned off sealing all the escape routes. A CRPF jawan was injured in the incident, a CRPF spokesman told The Tribune here. Two suspected militants fired upon a CRPF camp of 179 Bn in Sopore town of Baramulla district, at about 3.15 pm. The militant was killed at about 5.30 pm while efforts were on to neutralise the other holed-up militant. Most of the civilians present inside the hotel at were evacuated, the police said. The adjacent buildings were also vacated to avoid any civilian casualties. Meanwhile, Army has foiled an infiltration bid with the killing of one militant on the LoC in Keran sector of Kupwara district, a defence spokesman here said. |
