Hope Gastro MD told to pay Rs 2 lakh
Chandigarh, November 20 The complainant had been suffering from abdominal pain after replacement of biliary stent. Various laboratory and radiological investigations turned out to be normal. Manni Devi’s son, Dr Siya Ram Meena, specialist at ESIC Hospital, Ram Darbar, considered the cause of pain in the abdomen in situ CBD stent. After being diagnosed by Dr Neeraj Nagpal, managing director of the clinic, who suggested the cause of the pain to be situ CBD stent as the cause of pain in abdomen. He advised Manni MRCP (a radiological investigation) before the removal of the CBD stent to be followed by an endoscopy. The radiological investigation was conducted on the petitioner on December 27, 2006. The report of the test came out to be normal. The petitioner was asked to come to the clinic for the removal of the stent the next day along with her son. After depositing Rs 7,500 at the reception Manni was taken for the operation. On the request of Dr Siya Ram, he was allowed to accompany Manni during the operation. Dr Siya averred that the MD of the clinic started the procedure and made futile attempts to remove the stent but it was not successful. After 15 minutes, the MD declared that the stent had slipped from the original position and it would take more than two hours to remove it. He claimed that he had other appointment so he cannot devote two hours and left the operation midway by handing it over to Dr Arun Prasad. Alleging deficiency in service Dr Siya Ram filed the present complaint. Accepting that Manni Devi had come to the clinic, the respondents claimed the attitude of Dr Siya Ram to be abusive. They stated that he was not following the treatment suggested by the doctors at the clinic. The commission headed by K.C. Gupta observed: “Dr Neeraj Nagpal did not give proper care after the procedure and even failed to provide her van by stating that the driver was not available, he has acted unprofessional manner.” |
At last, Kala Darpan gets sales staff
Chandigarh, November 20 Located at a prime place, in Panchayat Bhavan, Sector 18, Kala Darpan came up to offer a platform to anyone who sought to share his creativity by selling art and craft products locally developed. While the hospitality department provided the space, the department of industries was to manage the affairs, including sales. For many months, Kala Darpan wore a dull look despite being located in the best of places. It had no staff to sell the products on display even when the buyers were there. Professional management of the space was missing throughout until a few days ago when the industries department recruited two sales persons, one helper and one accountant. “These appointments have been made for the first time. The idea is to provide professional services to prospective customers. Kala Darpan has been doing well and our sales have been good, but there is no doubt that we were suffering from acute shortage of manpower to handle the space and the project. Now that we have hired people and are even training them, we are sure the services will further improve,” said director, industries Vandana Disodia. Interestingly, a lot of products on display at Kala Darpan have been taken to New Delhi for the ongoing trade fair. A lot more, however, needs to be done to improve the working of the project. Proper display of products is just one of the many requirements. Right now, the wares are piled up anywhere, with no proper classifications to attract a customer. A visually appealing display, feel customers, will do Kala Darpan some good. |

Remix king turns actor
Chandigarh, November 20 The young maestro, having 40 albums to his credit, gave new dimensions to Punjabi folk, Sufiana and Asian funky music making it popular among the music lovers abroad, which won him a prestigious place in the Guiness Book of World Records. Handsome and photogenic Sagoo is all set to upkeep the convention of excellence in the field of acting as well. The star cast of the film, including Bally Sagoo, Diljit Kaur, Preeti Jhangiyani, along with film director Harjindra S. Dhami, interacted with the mediapersons at the Chandigarh Press Club today. Sagoo and Dhami maintain that a potent realism operating at all levels enlivens the film. Shot in the panoramic locales of Scotland, UK, Punjab and holy Nankana Sahib, Pakistan, the film depicts the diverse lifestyles and ethical values. In a way, it is a tribute to communal harmony and secularism besides having loads of entertainment. Sagoo claims that his grooming in the alien culture of the UK with the Punjabi family background had been an asset for him to bring alive the character of the protagonist in the film. The cast forms actors from the UK and Pakistan. He claims to have created the music with the top musicians and singers of Bollywood. Preeti Jhingyani sees a promising future through her first ever Punjabi film. Without knowing much of Punjabi, she plays the heroine with consummate ease. Diljit Kaur, who had reigned the Punjabi sliver screen for over 25 years, plays the role of Bally' s mother. She, however, lamented that her contribution had not been rightly recognised. The FTTI graduate, brought up in West Bengal, preferred to opt for the Punjabi cinema in those good old days. Like Gurdas Mann, Baldev Khosa and others, she had made intense efforts to resurrect the non-existent Punjabi cinema. "But I have no regrets as the love and adulation of Punjabi fans had been keeping me rejuvenated during my successful career of 60 films and lot more to come," She
signs off. |
