IIM-L placements see wider profiles

THE IIM-Lucknow has announced the completion of its summer placements. All the 285 students of various courses were lapped up by corporates within no time. In all, 424 offers were made to the students.

The placements saw the students with prior work experience getting the choicest of jobs. This year saw a record of 424 offers as compared to 391 last year. The number of foreign placements saw a tremendous rise from six last year to 28 this year. Companies offering foreign placements included BNP Paribas Hong Kong, Citibank Hong Kong, Barclays Capital (London), Unilever (London), Proctor & Gamble (Global Offices for Marketing, CBD, CMK and F & A), Alshaya and Arohi Asset Management.

The summers placements this year saw a large number of consulting firms like McKinsey & Co., BCG, Ernst & Young, Accenture, KPMG, Price Waterhouse Coopers, TAS, and the like visiting the campus.

According to Dr Devi Singh, director, IIM-Lucknow, there has been a marked increase in the number of “better” profiles being offered by the clients. “The trend this year has been that IIM-L students have been offered the more coveted jobs in industry, like consulting, treasury, trading, etc. This has been possible because the recruiters have been impressed with the programmes, pedagogy and academic resilience of the courses at IIML.”

Typically, the students were offered basic profiles in most functions for their summer internships, but now the trend at IIM-L this year has been that the most sought-after profiles in each function, for example brand management in marketing, trading and treasury profiles in finance are increasingly being offered to students for even their internships.

In iBanking, the most sought after client facing roles were also offered for summer placements. In sales and marketing profiles, brand management profiles are being offered for the summer. These are basically strategy and implementation profiles within the brand management function.

Johnson & Johnson (Consumer & Medical), GSK (Consumer & Pharma), Yahoo, Intel, IBM and Reliance were some other major recruiters.
