New Delhi, December 3
Fearing the possibility of a terror attack, the city has been put on an alert. Extraordinary security measures have been taken by the Delhi police after the police commissioner Y.S. Dadwal received intelligence inputs regarding the terror strike.
Three organisations are believed to be planning the attacks in the national capital. Two Pakistani outfits, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and one Bangladeshi organisation Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islam (HuJI). HuJI has been infamous for its activities in India due to easy movement across borders.
According to the sources, crowded areas in the city are at the target of the terrorist organisations. “We have put up high security at all the crowded places,” said Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat. “Dog squads, bomb disposal squads, quick reaction teams have been deployed at crucial points. A close watch is kept on the borders of the national capital.”
Additional forces are provided at the airport, metro stations, railway stations and bus stands. Barricades have been constructed around the city and religious places are kept under major security check.
The police has also issued guidelines to the cafe and mobile service providers to maintain their proper records. Communication services are being misused by the radical outfits in a big way.
In 2005, the city was attacked and three bomb blasts killed almost 60 persons. The explosions had took place in Paharganj, Sarojini Nagar and Govindpuri, being three of the most crowded areas of Delhi.
