Trade unions disrupt rail traffic
Ludhiana, December 5
Several organisations representing farmers, industrial workers and employees of the PSEB today disrupted rail traffic on the
Ludhiana-Ferozepur section at the Model Gram railway station against the privatisation move being pursued by the government.
Trade union leaders said the agitation would be intensified if the government
did not scrap the policy of privatisation and withdraw the Electricity Act,
2003, among other things.

Study: 5,600 farm accidents every year
But only 21 pc get monetary aid

About 5,600 accidents take place every year during farm operations in Punjab. In 75 per cent cases of accident, farm machines are involved. However, only 21 per cent victims receive monetary benefits.

The auction of 10 commercial booths, measuring 33.33 sq yards each and located in the market opposite the civil hospital, fetched PUDA Rs 2.21 crore against the reserve price of Rs 1.73 crore.
Parking lot goes for 80.25 lakh

A parking lot in the upmarket commercial hub of Feroze Gandhi Market (D zone) was today leased out for Rs 80.25 lakh through open bidding for a period of one year. The reserve price was Rs 60 lakh and six bidders participated.

Rs 80 lakh grant for Khanna

Grants worth Rs 80 lakh were released for the development of rural areas in the Khanna constituency during the last six months. This was claimed by the local Akali legislator and chief parliamentary secretary (technical education) Bikramjit Singh Khalsa while laying the foundation stone of a project to revamp roads and drainage network of Lalheri village.
