CTU bus carries players to Delhi

A day after The Tribune highlighted the story of table tennis and judo players having been left out of the National School Games in Mizoram because the authorities had failed to confirm their railway tickets in time, the UT education department sent the children on a special CTU bus to New Delhi this afternoon.
‘Living heritage’ proposal for City Beautiful

In a rare honour for Chandigarh, UNESCO has invited the city to be part of the network of Indian sites on “living heritage”. This is separate from the UNESCO move to confer world heritage status on Le Corbusier’s works that mainly pertain to Chandigarh.
Thousands raise slogans to halt privatisation

Thousands of members of 17 peasants and workers organisations from across Punjab today staged a rally at Rally Ground in Sector 25, here, protesting against the privatisation of public sector units, including the Punjab State Electricity Board.

Fraud in disability sector mounting: Expert
Chandigarh, December 6
Faking of disability is becoming commonplace, with the Rehabilitation Council of India routinely detecting frauds in the sector. Very recently the council’s rehabilitation professionals refused a disability certificate and hearing aid to a Delhi-based person who had managed a recommendation from the office of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
