Kolkata, December 7
The West Bengal government today ordered a CID probe into the identity of the persons whose charred bones were exhumed from five graves at Bamanchak near Nandigram yesterday.
Home secretary Prasad Ranjan Ray said DNA tests would be conducted to ascertain the identities of those whose remains had been found. The police said the bones could be of the five killed in bomb blasts of October 28, or March 14.
However, CPM claimed that the bodies were of party supporters, who were killed allegedly by the Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee supporters on October 28.
New Delhi: Stepping up offensive against CPM on Nandigram issue, Mamta Bannerjee today held meetings with Congress President Sonia Gandhi and BJP leader L K Advani.
Mamta requested Sonia to visit Nandigram and also send a UPA team to assess the situation there. She asked Congress to review its ties with CPM as it “has crossed the Laxman Rekha in
politics”. — Agencies
