Patna, December 11
Three persons were killed and another was injured when Maoist rebels opened fire at a village in Vaishali district of Bihar late last night.
The police said nearly 80 armed cadres of the banned outfit arrived at Sukki village, under the Patepur police station, and opened fired indiscriminately in front of the house of village mukhiya Indramohan Singh.
While Kapildeo Thakur, Abhyanand Singh and Arun Singh were killed, another villager suffered gunshot injuries. Indramohan, known to be a prosperous farmer of the area, was reported to be the prime target.
Sources claimed that the village was targeted as it is dominated by landed upper caste, who have been countering Maoist rebels in the area.
