Unofficial possession of revolvers
Probe against IPS officers
Tribune News Service

Patna, December 14
The Nitish government today ordered a probe into the matter involving some IPS officers who reportedly failed to return the official revolvers even after their retirement or deputation for central duty.

Around 18 IPS officers reportedly went on central deputation or on deputation to Jharkhand without submitting their official revolvers.

In reply to a question raised by a senior RJD MLA Abdul Bari Siddiqui in the Assembly today, the state energy minister Vijendra Yadav admitted the report involving non-submission of service revolvers by some IPS officials while going on central deputation in the past one decade. Even some retired IPS officers were still keeping the revolvers.

Yadav warned actions against those erring officers once the probe ordered by the state government was complete to review the matter thoroughly.

The matter came to light after six rifles were found to be missing from Bihar Military Police (BMP) headquarters in Muzaffarpur recently.

To a supplementary by RJD’s Jagdanand Singh, he said it would also be verified whether these IPS officers were put on central deputation or deputation to Jharkhand by a competent authority after obtaining NoCs from the state police headquarters.
